In keeping with the 2024 President’s theme of fire and its effects, members and partners spent 25 and 26 July 2024 at the 365-acre Fire Service College at Moreton-in-Marsh in the Cotswolds. For over 60 years the College has been at the forefront of fire safety and response training, from cadets to senior officers, covering building fires, urban search and rescue, train derailments, ship fires and road accidents.
After lunch the group received a presentation on the training facilities and a guided tour of the training ground, including live firefighting demonstrations. Dinner was in the mediaeval barn of the Fleece Inn at Bretforton, the first pub owned by the National Trust, and some members also visited Batsford Arboretum.
