Monday 25 January 2027
Lecture in the Telford Theatre and dinner at the Institution of Civil Engineers, One Great George Street, Westminster, London SW1P 3AA

The first lecture of 2027 will be delivered by Rémi Fromont, Chief Architect of Historic Monuments for the French Ministry of Culture.

In 2012 he led a project to map the features of the original construction of the roof timbers of Notre-Dame Cathedral, taking a detailed note of their dimensions and of the repairs and modifications that had been made over the centuries. He and his colleague emerged from the project with the most detailed blueprint of the structure ever created. A decade later, these drawings would serve as the road map for Notre-Dame’s rebirth following the devastating fire of 2019.
